Our own rating system for European club football. Every club in the top two divisions of England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France is scored 1-100 on six long-term measures, built from ten seasons of league results — not from this week's form, and not from anyone else's ratings.

Two different strengths, and why both are here

A rating only means something against the field it was scored in. Overall strength is normalized inside a club's own pyramid, so the best side in England and the best side in France both reach 100. Global strength re-scores the same clubs against all ten leagues at once, which is what separates them: Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain hold 100, Manchester City 95. The league tables use the in-pyramid figure; the global table uses the global one. Mixing them would quietly rank a Ligue 2 side above a Premier League one.

What each rating measures

Overall.: How strong the team has been across the whole period.
Attack.: Goals scored, weighted towards recent seasons.
Defense.: Points and goals conceded, on the same weighting.
Dominance.: How far clear of the rest of its league the team finishes.
Consistency.: How little the team's level swings from season to season.
Pedigree.: Long-run standing — titles, deep runs, and time spent at the top.
